University of Toledo: ePortfolios and the Academic Journey

A couple of years ago the University of Toledo chose to reconsider undergraduate education in the 21st century from the ground up. Some of the difficult issues addressed included how institutions fail to help students synthesize work in various contexts, the transferability of the knowledge they gain, and whether disciplinary organization of knowledge is the best approach.

The university determined that the best way to support students doing integrative work across disciplines and to employ meaningful institutional assessment was through the use of ePortfolios.
