SharePoint and first-time logon

We are planning to implement SharePoint soon and are concerned about the first-time log-on of a new user. In AD, by default, we have the “user must change password at next logon” box checked for new people. This requires them to change their password at their first logon. This is easily done when logging in to the network for the first time but, how do you handle it if users log straight in to SharePoint via the internet or a kiosk.
