USG LMS Task Force Recommends Move from Blackboard to Desire2Learn at end of Blackboard Contract Term

The University System of Georgia LMS Task Force made its final recommendation on April 30, 2011, replace Blackboard with Desire2Learn.  The report cites making a "fiscally responsible" decision among the reasons for their strong recommendation.

Additional points made in the report include technology features such as running the application in a central location while allowing for individual campus modifications.  The task force was made up of a large group including student representation.

Interesting to me is that USG considered open source solutions as well as vendor-proprietary solutions..
