According to an article by Louise Bleakley, Yana Morris, Bhavna Kaul and Mike Stone published by dealReporter yesterday, Blackboard has received offers to be acquired.

The report announces five bidders including Oracle. The board is expected to meet this week to evaluate offers received on June 2nd. Cited in the article are multipe "sources" close to the transaction including potential parties who have dropped out of the deal.

Issues regarding the potential for Blackboard to be acquired included the high valuation established by a special committee. Blackboard may be seeking a price exceeding what most buyers will be willing to pay.
