Higher One Debit Card Complaints Continue

According to The Register-Guard, Lane Community College may drop or change its contract with Higher One.

Students continue to complain about fees. About 800 colleges and universities use services from Higher One in an attempt to save money processing financial aid. In the case of Lane Community College, Higher One processes about 90% of its financial aid disbursements.

Recent complaints include that fees are not reasonable and that students cannot easily avoid paying fees to Higher One. The business practices of Higher One and other disbursers have become so controversial that students across the country are protesting.

Institutions are dealing with budget cuts and costs to disburse financial aid. Either way, students will pay to receive aid.
