Is Pearson Learning Solutions looking to enter the social media scene?

Yesterday a press release about Pearson Learning Solutions along with Babson Survey Research Group and New Marketing Labs conducted a survey "Social Media in Higher Education" to understand how college professors/faculty are using social media.  Pearson Learning Solutions currently does not offer a solution that includes social media.  Could this survey be an indication that Pearson Learning Solutions is looking to partner with a firm to offer a social media solution?

Edu1world Welcomes Sungard Higher Education Commons

You may have already seen the press releases about SunGard’s Community Source initiative and the SunGard Higher Education “Commons” but I would like to share with you my firsthand experience with this initiative. 

Just to put my comments in perspective, I have been working with and providing technology for higher education for 25 years, both as a vendor and as a higher education technology “user”. I have very high expectations for vendors and I am not easily impressed.  So what I am about to share with you took me by surprise....
