Workday is Likely to Disrupt Higher Education ERP in 2013

Speculation continues to increase that Workday is in fact building a SIS. There's no formal announcement, but informally the company has been discussing plans for weeks. Key hires continue.

All indications are that a formal beta group of SIS institutions could be announced by the time the Workday user conference convenes in September. Of course, the institutions have to sign agreements and as far as I know, negotiations are incomplete.

With a long history of building successful applications for higher education, Dave Duffield has always been committed to higher education. It's no secret that Liz Dietz joined Dave in April. On LinkedIn, her position is "Higher Education Change Agent".

When I was offered the opportunity to join PeopleSoft in 1995 to build the public sector and higher education business unit, I was ecstatic. I thought that PeopleSoft's SIS and full ERP offering was the most exciting thing that could ever happen in higher education technology. At the time, PeopleSoft had a successful HRMS and Financial business but the public sector and higher education business unit had not been initiated.
