The Redesign Alliance

The National Center for Academic Transformation

The Redesign Alliance is a membership organization whose mission is to advance the concept of course redesign throughout higher education to increase student success and access while containing or reducing instructional costs. The Redesign Alliance pursues this mission by creating a community of higher education institutions and others who are committed to and experienced with large-scale course redesign.

State and System Course Redesign

The National Center for Academic Tranformation

The National Center for Academic Transformation (NCAT) is the only national organization focused on both academic quality and cost savings in higher education. Working with state and system educational authorities that need to affect substantial change among their institutions, the NCAT is able to replicate its successful course redesign methodology developed at the national level and produce similar results at the state level.

Increasing Success for Underserved Students was an effort by the NCAT supported by Lumina Foundation for Education to assess the impact of the "Program in Course Redesign" on the success of traditionally underserved students: low-income students, students of color and adults.

The Roadmap to Redesign (R2R)

The National Center for Academic Transformation

The Roadmap to Redesign (R2R) was a NCAT program, funded by FIPSE to establish an efficient means of spreading the ideas and practices of the NCAT's "Program in Course Redesign" to additional institutions.  It was conducted from 2003 – 2006.  R2R partnered experienced, successful institutions with new institutions, using a streamlined redesign methodology.

Program in Course Redesign (PCR)

The National Center for Academic Transformation

This program By the NCAT was a Pew-funded effort that demonstrated how colleges and universities can redesign their instructional approaches using technology to achieve cost savings as well as quality enhancements. It was conducted from 1999 – 2003. Redesign projects focused on large-enrollment, introductory courses, which have the potential of impacting significant student numbers and generating substantial cost savings.

Changing the Equation: Redesigning Developmental Math

On December 1, 2009, NCAT launched a major program to engage the nation’s community colleges in a successful redesign of their remedial/developmental math sequences. Its goal is to improve student learning outcomes in remedial/developmental math while reducing costs for both students and institutions using NCAT’s proven redesign methodology.
